Norm Higgins – Sad Goodbye

shamrock-149821__480Norm Higgins passed away suddenly last week.  He was a long time Key Largo Wastewater Treatment District (KLWTD) commissioner, and more than that, a really nice guy.  Vietnam veteran.  Cared about the community, especially those who were struggling.  He loved his grand-kids very, very much.  He would share cute photos and videos that would brighten my day.

Here’s a good article about him from the Keynoter.  And here’s a beautiful letter by John Donnelly from the Blue Paper.

Norm was proud of his Irish heritage.  That’s something we had in common.  The only Gaelic phrase we knew between us was “Póg mo thóin”.  (Kiss my ass.)  Lol.  He always used to say, “We’re not here for a long time.  We’re here for a good time.”  I found this tool on the web and translated it into Gaelic.  I think he would have liked that.

Nílimid anseo ar feadh i bhfad.  Is anseo ar feadh tamaill mhaith.

Rest in peace, my friend.  You will be sorely missed, but your memory will always bring a smile.
